Here’s what you need to know about energy price changes
You might’ve heard that energy prices are changing across Australia. Here’s what’s going on – and what you can do to stay on top of it.

Why energy prices are changing
Like a lot of things lately, energy is costing more to supply. That’s because:
  • Wholesale prices rose after industry-wide network outages, demand spikes, lower solar and wind generation
  • Network costs increased due to inflation, extreme weather and ongoing infrastructure upgrades
These changes mean higher operational costs, which are now reflected in updated pricing across the industry.

What this means for you
Your individual plan details, including your new rates, are available in the Additional Information section above. The amount of change depends on your location, usage and current plan.

How this year compares
Energy prices go up and down each year – and this year, the market’s been more unpredictable than usual. That’s led to our cost increasing, driven mostly by the reasons noted above.

Can you avoid it?
We know price increases aren’t ideal. These changes are a result of broader market shifts and are sometimes unavoidable. But if you're doing it tough, there are flexible payment options to help make things more manageable.

What’s being done to keep costs down
We’re always looking for smarter ways to manage costs and we’re doing everything we can to keep delivering value and keep you in the loop.

Why the cost can’t be absorbed
We’d love to keep prices steady, but absorbing rising costs would impact our ability to deliver the reliable service and future-focused solutions you count on. This increase helps us keep things running smoothly and sustainably.

What you can do
While the change itself can’t be avoided, there are ways you can manage the impact:

Use less, save more
Here are a few ways to reduce energy usage and lower your bills:
  • Upgrade to energy-efficient appliances
  • Use a smart thermostat to control heating and cooling
  • Keep heating and cooling systems well-maintained
  • Build small habits like turning off unused devices and adjusting thermostat settings
